3D Landscapes

The main concern of Rubin’s work is making the mundane and unseen into the extraordinary. She becomes involved in the details of reproducing 3Dimensional sections of prints, paintings and postcards which have a sense of other worldliness and creates places which the viewer can explore.

In ‘Micro-Negative Landscape’ and the drawing series, ‘Cracks’, her attention is held by the everyday passages that run beneath our steps – literally the spaces between the floorboards. Rubin, through her process, makes a positive cast which for a moment holds the dust and debris of generations past and present. The final result is a bronze cast which, on inspection, reads like a landscape drawing (akin to Cracks).
